Transfused blood 'should be stored differently'

Transfused blood may need to be stored differently to avoid complications such as infection, organ failure and death, according to new findings. Resesatch published in journal Circulation revealed new biological mechanisms which are able to reduce blood flow and potentially damage vital tissues in blood used after a storage period of over 39 days.
